Friday's Fancies | Dress Yourself for Winter

This week Friday's Fancies on Long Distance Loving suggested dressing yourself in an outfit that resembles you best. I'm a northern Michigan girl through and through, so it only makes sense that dressing myself in an outfit that's typically me would most definitely include comfortable jeans and cozy winter boots. I feel most at home in a winter hat and cozy boots, so that's exactly what I chose first for this week's outfit. I topped it off with a couple pops of neon to bring some brightness to the grey winter days.

Northern Michigan is in my heart this time of year, because it's the perfect setting for Christmas. Not to mention my parents still live there, and it's also the place where I formed many of my most favorite Christmas memories. Who knows, maybe I'll slip on my winter boots and a cozy sweater just for fun this winter and pretend that I'm there....

... Christmas time in Petoskey, Michigan...

This song is just because... I like it.

  1. i love the coziness of the sweater, boots, & hat you've used in this look. and i think it's fun to add neon pops to winter wear - unexpected, & as you said, brightening!

that edward sharpe & the magnetic zeros song is one of my favorites - we should roadtrip together somewhere - our playlist would be AWESOME ;)

  2. Love the cozy sweater & boots. Oh, and that hat! I swoon. I so miss living in cold weather where hats are an expected accessory. I'm definitely more at home in cold weather clothes. :)

  4. Those boots!

You know... we'll have room in our car. If you can fly up to BWI (or Dulles or National but I live 15 min from BWI), we'll be leaving at like 5am on Saturday the 22nd and heading straight up to Bellaire. We'll be there by dinnertime. Have a pizza and a beer at Shorts and send you on your way to Petoskey.

Just sayin' is all.... the offer stands.

  6. In love with that sweater. And I love your Sorrel boots! I bought a different pair of the same brand last year--besides being kind of heavy, I like them. How do you like yours?
