During My Break From Blogging...

I realize it's been about a week and a half (except for yesterday) since I last published a blog post. My sweet blog friend, Michelle, even checked in on me via email. My intention was not to stop blogging, but it just sort of happened. There's been plenty to blog about, but I haven't felt like spending much time on the computer lately. You know what? It's been sort of nice.

My husband hates the mall with a passion, but I managed to get him there to buy me a belated 30th birthday gift. I'd been dreaming of owning Flowerbomb for quite some time, and now it's finally mine. Yum. I want to bathe in that delicious scent, but it's a little pricey for that. I suppose I'll spritz it on my wrists and neck instead. It lasts longer that way.

While we enjoyed some coffee and The New York Times, my husband almost forgot we were at the mall. The Florida Mall has a two story Starbucks, so you can perch yourself near a second floor balcony and escape the crowds for a little while.

yes, he hates the mall

While at the mall I even managed to squeeze in visits to a few other stores, including Lush. Walking into that store you're overwhelmed with so many great scents. After buying an incredible smelling bath bomb, I've never been so excited to take a bath since Mr. Bubble. Lush makes bath time fun for adults. My Twilight bath bomb is supposed to help you relax, so I'm trying to save it for a 'rough' day. More than likely I'll just cave and use it to help me sleep better.

We ate at a new (to us) restaurant on our way home from the mall. Unfortunately, the food and drinks weren't the greatest at Rocco's Tacos. The interior design and restaurant location were awesome though. I think if we went back, I'd only eat the guacamole and drink beer. The food prices were rather overpriced for the quality and taste, so I think next time we'll save a little extra money and eat somewhere that's supposed to have great food... like The Ravenous Pig, Luma, The Rusty Spoon, or Prato. Has anyone reading this eaten at any of these places in Orlando?

I told my husband that we've been spoiled by eating at too many good restaurants over the years. Florida restaurants have a lot to live up to, so we're hoping to find some favorites soon.

The weather this past weekend was perfect! We enjoyed the pool at our apartment for the first time since we moved here in January. It was sunny with the perfect breeze to keep you cool. We loved it. The temperatures were great for walking outside too. We know this isn't going to last for long before it's sweltering!

If you're still here, thanks for reading through all of that! Maybe next time I won't wait ten days to share, but maybe I will. There are times when you just need to step away from technology and spend more time with people. The last week and a half has been that kind of time for me, and it was good.

I hope you all have a wonderful week!

spotted this pretty hibiscus during a walk this weekend

reading just my current copy of Coastal Living. I recently finished a book and am in need of another one. I keep hearing that Gone Girl is a good book, so we'll see...
writing does painting count? I actually wouldn't mind starting a journal so I can write down my thoughts each day.
listening to the sound of the washing machine do its work on our beach towels.
thinking that the past few days have been great. My husband's had later flights this week, so we've been able to spend time together in the mornings and afternoons.
smelling as I type this I keep getting wafts of Tom Ford's Black Orchid... we visited the mall last week, and I got a sample of the scent from Sephora.
wishing for more weather like we had yesterday: sunny, 75, and a nice breeze. That kind of weather is perfect for spending an afternoon by the pool.
hoping (see above). I'm also hoping to make the most of my husband's days off of work next month. Maybe we'll squeeze in a couple of new Florida adventures!
wearing nothing fancy... just some old ripped up denim from American Eagle and a gray tank top. I spent most of the day in my workout clothes. Boy are those clothes comfy.
loving that we're attempting to get back into some sort of workout routine again.
wanting to use my new Lush Twilight bath bomb sometime soon. Has anyone bought/used Lush products before? It was my first visit there, and I can't wait to take a relaxing bath.
needing time to do more drawing, painting, and creating art in general.
feeling nice and refreshed after a little nap today.
clicking on Flight Aware, so I can see where my husband is... I'm also clicking through some blogs. I haven't been spending much time blogging lately.

Happy Sunday!

Valentine's Day is for Movies

In honor of Valentine's Day, I want to take advantage of the loving mood that swirls about each time this year. My husband is working tonight, so I see plenty of movies and nibbles of chocolate in my near future. Nothing says love like a good romantic comedy and some Ghirardelli, right?

There are tons of great romantic comedies available, and Valentine's Day is the perfect time to bust out your favorite and have a good laugh/cry.

Unfortunately, our dvd collection is small, so I'll have to settle for watching the few that we have. I'm leaning towards watching Serendipity or Sweet Home Alabama tonight. I typically watch The Holiday around Christmas each year, so maybe I'll pass on that tonight. Wrong holiday.

Here are some of my favorite romantic comedies:

Pretty Woman

Sleepless in Seattle

Crazy, Stupid, Love

Serendipity

The Holiday

50 First Dates

Sweet Home Alabama

Hitch

Do you have a favorite romantic comedy? What would you add to this list?

we enjoyed dinner at the Melting Pot for our 3rd anniversary

reading on our trip to Michigan I bought The Homecoming of Samuel Lake and hope to get going on it soon.
writing there hasn't been a lot of writing going on here, but I have been drawing and painting a little bit since I got a fun birthday gift from my aunt. I just might do a little painting today.
listening to the sounds of kids playing on the playground outside. There's lots of hollering and squealing going on out there.
thinking that it was really nice getting out and going for a bike ride yesterday. I'm also thinking about how we could really use some more regular exercise!
smelling not a whole lot since I'm still sort of congested.
wishing that my cold would go away and I'd feel 100% again.
hoping this cooler weather stays around for a little while.
wearing pink pajama pants and a grey t-shirt. I'm thinking of heading to Walgreen's soon, so I should probably change out of my pajamas, huh?
loving that we enjoyed some nachos and two beers at a restaurant last night for just $5. We weren't feeling very healthy afterwards, but we did feel rather thrifty. I'm also loving that I finally ordered the adorable owl warmer from Scentsy with some of my birthday money.
wanting to feel better, eat healthier, and exercise more.
needing something to eat for lunch... it will most likely be oatmeal with walnuts and brown sugar. Yum.
feeling pretty thankful for quite a few things actually. Giving thanks is a good thing.

A Birthday to Remember

My husband surprised me with a trip to Michigan for my 30th birthday. I still cannot believe it's been just longer than a week since I found out we were going to spend my big day in the wintry north. People always say this, but time really does fly when you're having fun. This certainly was a birthday to remember.

Our trip to Michigan was such a whirlwind trip, it almost felt like it never happened. Thankfully I have the pictures to prove it did. I'll never forget being surprised by so many smiling faces    and cake and balloons. I also brought home a cold from Michigan, so I will keep this short.

It's always nice seeing a familiar face. Seeing snow on my birthday was an added bonus. Hopefully we'll get back to Michigan again soon!

Now I'm going to nurse my cold and possibly take a few days off from the blog world. For those observant readers out there, my hair is darker (thanks to my friend Amber) than before our trip to Michigan. I hope you're all having a lovely week. Stay healthy!

First off, thank you all for the birthday wishes!
I had a wonderful surprise birthday trip to Michigan.
My husband really outdid himself on that one. :)

reading I just bought The Homecoming of Samuel Lake... to begin reading soon.
writing just this blog post for right now.
listening to clocks ticking in the background. It's fairly quiet around here, and I've been napping on and off today.
thinking how it really stinks that I developed a cold/sinus infection during my trip to Michigan. Hopefully it doesn't hang around for long!
smelling nothing. My nose is stuffed up, so I can't smell very well right now.
wishing that I didn't have a throbbing head each time I stand. I rarely get sick, so I'm a big baby when I don't feel well.
hoping that this cold goes away as quickly as it came.
wearing some pajama pants and a long sleeve shirt with the Great Lakes on it.
loving my whirlwind 30th birthday trip to Michigan. My husband really surprised me, and I was so happy to spend time with family and friends on my birthday.
wanting lots of sleep and to feel better soon.
needing ( see above )
feeling super thankful, loved, and happy to be married to a wonderful man.
clicking nothing, because I'm about to go rest on the couch again. I promise that I'll get back to you all soon! Thanks again for the birthday wishes!
