Well. Tomorrow I turn the big 3-0. Yipes! That number still sounds a little scary to me, but don't tell my husband that. He's been 30 something for a
little bit now. I don't want to make him feel like an old man. A couple days ago he said that he doesn't want to be married to a 20-something anymore. Lucky for me, I'll fit the bill tomorrow. Whew. Thankfully he wasn't trying to leave me and was only hinting at the fact that he's okay with my age. I think I've got a keeper. :)
I guess I'm probably not going to meet that silly goal, that everyone and their
brother sister sets, of having kids before I turn thirty. Unless the gestation period for a human pregnancy has been shortened from 9 months to a few hours. Ready, set, go. Nope. Not pregnant. We're still not homeowners either. You know what though, I couldn't be happier be turning 30 surrounded by lots of people who love me. That will have to be enough for now. Life never seems to go according to my plans anyhow. It's probably better that way.
Speaking of plans. Someone made plans for my big birthday this year. Plans that involved some sneakiness, and also plans that involve some cold temperatures and snow. I was notified of these plans only a few days ago, and now I couldn't be more excited to be leaving my twenties. Getting older is always more fun with people you love. Now let's hope mother nature doesn't play any games and that these plans do come to fruition.
Goodbye January, it's been nice knowing you!
Happy birthday!!!! Have fun!!!
ReplyDeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY FRIEND!!!!! Hope you get to go home and see your family! Whatever it is he has planned for you, I am sure will be fabulous! :) I hear the 30's are the best years of your life!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday girl! The 30's aren't so bad. I think you definitely feel like you know what you are doing more than you did in your 20's ;) Have fun in the snow!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!!! It sounds like you have something very cool planned! Don't worry about what statistics say (3 kids, homeowner, blah-blah-blah)... They're overrated. Enjoy life as it comes (which I can tell that you do).
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day tomorrow, Ashley!!!!
I love this post! My husband and I are in the same boat-almost 30, no kids, still renting and have no idea where we'll end up next! It can be discouraging sometimes watching your friends and family "settle" with babies and a home of their own. That's where I've been this week, so thank you for waking me up-our life is great, and I wouldn't want anything different! Happy Birthday, Ashley!! I hope it's the best one yet! Have a blast!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I feel like 30 is a great age...you are old enough to have earned from respect from people older than you but you aren't so old that you are labeled "old or uncool." Hehe. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Ashley! Your husband was so sweet to say what he said! I hope you enjoy your birthday and the snow!!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday pretty girl! You don't look a day over 22:-)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Ashley! Enjoy the lovely snow. I know how much you've been missing it :)
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Ashley!!! Turning 30 isn't so bad. :)
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful time celebrating with your sneaking plans and snow and coldness. :)
PS - Two smiley faces in one comment? It MUST be a special day!
Happy soon to be birthday, Ashley! You're going to love being 30! My 30th birthday was so much fun, and being in my 30s (31 now) hasn't felt old or whatever it is that we fear about turning the big 3-0! You'll still be just as awesome tomorrow as you are today, my love! :)
ReplyDeleteMy comment didn't post the other day... and now the excitement is over so I'll leave it at this...
ReplyDeleteWHAT A GREAT BIRTHDAY SURPRISE!!! So... is it Colorado or Michigan? If it's MI, say hi for me. I know you'll have a great weekend, wherever it is! :)
