How Embarrassing!

I've had my fair share of embarrassing moments, and you can tell I'm embarrassed when my entire face turns red all the way to my ears. There is no way for me to hide it. However, I'm not all that easily embarrassed. I'm a goofball as it is and tend to embarrass myself (and sometimes those around me), so I'll most likely beat you to the punch. You must have something really good on me if you make my ears turn red.

I must have selective memory when it comes to the most embarrassing moments in my life, because I can't seem to think of any really embarrassing moments from my life... so I'll just go ahead and show you some of the embarrassing things I've done. These pictures will have to do.

Oh, and my husband reminded me there was this one time I took my dad to a cool new restaurant/pub in Denver, the Tilted Kilt. It sounded like a fun new Irish pub, so I thought why not try that out with my dad while he's in town. Well, that place is basically an Irish inspired Hooter's restaurant. Complete with scantily clad girls in tiny kilts. Not the kind of place I want to visit with my dad. Oops.

running down the dunes w/ my arms flailing like a crazy person... I almost peed myself that day

... try on that dive suit? Don't mind if I do.

... pretending to be on safari or something...

Oh, and then there was the time I told my father-in-law and his wife that eating too much asparagus made my pee smell badly. Who says that?! Yeah. I do just fine embarrassing myself.

What's your most embarrassing moment?

Are You Afraid of the Dark?

Oh crap. I'm afraid of quite a few things, but the dark is something that has always scared the heck out of me! Not to mention, things that are already scary in daylight are always magnified by the dark.

even cute things can be creepy in the dark...

- - hearing random noises inside your house.... scarier in the dark.

- - seeing someone moving in the parking lot outside your apartment.... scarier in the dark.

- - riding a roller-coaster, or any ride for that matter... way scarier in the dark!

- - chainsaw noises... obviously scarier in the dark, duh.

- - the woods across from the house where you grew up... the scariest in the dark!!

- - long, empty hallways... much more scary in the dark.

- - ocean waters infested with sharks... absolutely terrifying in the dark.

. . . : : : : . . . : : : : . . . : : : : . . . : : : : . . .

Did you ever watch this show?!
It was so creepy buy boy did I love it.

So.... are you afraid of the dark?

Mattress Shopping For Dummies

These past couple weeks in our new apartment have kept us busy with minor improvements, mattress shopping for our guest room, grapefruit eating, and other random things (aka moving one pile of unpacked things to another room so it looks like things are getting done). Let me tell you, there have been plenty of lessons learned these past few days.

under that cozy bedding is a mattress that's about to get returned

My husband thinks grapefruits are the devil, and I have to admit that mattresses should most definitely be part of that evil list. He hates grapefruits. I hate mattress shopping.

You will never find the 'best' deal on a mattress. There are about 9 different names for the same mattress, so you will have a hard time comparing prices across stores. Shopping for mattresses is about as fun, and complicated, as shopping around for the best deal on insurance. Comparing mattress prices is like trying to complete a Rubik's cube with your eyes closed. Let's just say it's impossible.

the trusty affordable and simple air mattress

Our air mattresses started to sound like fluffy white cloud beds after days of comparison shopping for a real mattress. Maybe we'll just sleep on those forever. When looking for a good air mattress, I don't need to know the difference between extra firm, super firm, plush, pillow-top, euro-top, memory foam, spring count, etc.

We learned that hard way that $250 mattresses don't really seem all that different from $600 mattresses with brand names on them. (The fact that we recently returned a mattress and box spring due to manufacturer defects is a post all in itself). You don't always get what you pay for, and you sometimes find out that paying less gets you more. Nothing seems to make sense any more. You might even begin getting your butt and head mixed up after a day of mattress shopping. It's that confusing.

soothing blue and white bedding might mask a cheap-o mattress... right?

Need a decent and affordable bed? Just save yourself some time and buy the cheapest one you can find, and then slap a pillow-top mattress pad on that thing and call it good. Either that, or save up and splurge on whatever bed you like first. One saves money, and the other gets you a comfortable bed in less time.

Whatever you do, try not to get mad at any mattress sales people. They know not what they do. :)

Happy Friday!

You Might Be a Redneck If...

My husband decided that we might be rednecks, because we opened a wine bottle with a knife/screwdriver combo. It did the job alright. We had packed away our entire kitchen (minus a few necessities) and moved it to our new apartment, but we forgot to leave out the ever important wine corkscrew. Don't worry, because screwdrivers do the job in a pinch.

You might also be a redneck if you drink your wine from a red solo cup. It's not the first time we resorted to drinking wine from a plastic receptacle. Years ago while traveling through eastern Colorado we got stuck in a blizzard, and we were forced to stay in a hotel overnight due to a highway closure. We bought ourselves a bottle of wine and some plastic cups at the local store and weathered the storm in our hotel room. Plastic cups. They always do the trick in an emergency.

Moving over Christmas definitely left us with some interesting holiday memories. We enjoyed our wine from plastic cups while sitting on our temporary "couch" for the evening. Classy people we are. Nothing says redneck like screwdriver wine bottle openers, red solo cups, and air mattress couches.

We're glad to be getting settled into our new place. :)

I'm Just a Regular Kind of Girl

Many of you may not know the real me.
Well, all you really need to know is that I'm pretty much a regular girl.

You know...
I'm just the kind of girl who wears ski goggles while cooking...

... hand sculpts butter into the shape of animals for holiday dinners ...

... rock climbs in people's basements ...

... wears necklaces made of pretzels and nutter butter cookies ...

... sports antlers on occasion ...

... isn't afraid to wear an old fashioned diving suit in public ...

... can sometimes be seen sparkling like a vampire in the sun ...

... and regularly reads only the finest of reading material.

Yep. That's me.
A regular, normal kind of girl.

p.s. Did anyone notice that all of these pictures were taken before I cut off all my hair?
I don't have many weird photos of me with short hair...
I'm beginning to wonder if getting my hair cut made me less strange?

Guess I'll have to grow my hair long again! (:

Can It Please Snow in Florida?

Since moving to Florida a year and a half ago, it's been quite a while since I've seen a really good snow. You know, the kind that blankets the ground in a fluffy white quilt that quiets the surrounding world. I really don't get out enough (and by out, I mean out of Florida). A trip to Michigan over the upcoming holidays is possible but unlikely, so a snow sighting is most likely out of the question too. If I saw actual snow falling from the sky here in Florida, I'd start getting prepared for the impending apocalypse that would most likely follow. We all know that Floridians can't drive in the snow.

... there may not be snow in Florida, but there's plenty of wind ...
fyi: my left hand is not a claw, I'm just holding onto a bunch of tiny seashells

{ outtakes from my Clearwater Beach photo shoot }

My husband bought me a pair of beautiful winter boots for Christmas a couple years ago. We lived in Colorado at the time, so those boots were a necessity back then. Sometimes I think about how fun it would be if I wore them to Clearwater Beach one afternoon. I've seen much stranger things at Wal-Mart, but I might get a few funny looks. The things you must do for entertainment.

... my dusty Sorel "Cate the Great" boots ...

As much as I'd love having snow for Christmas, it's probably best that Florida stays a warm and sunny locale. I mean, where would all the people who live 'up north' escape to when they haven't seen the sun in months? Yes, that's a real thing when you live in places like Michigan or Minnesota. If it snowed everywhere all the time we'd be in big trouble, and that's not okay. For now, my boots will remain dusty and a snowy Christmas will have to happen another year.

Do you live somewhere that has snow on Christmas?

p.s. there isn't much longer to sign up for the ornament swap, so get yourself signed up now!

My Nebraska-sized Arse

It's been quite a while since I wrote a blog post about search terms that led people to my blog.  { You can read the last one here if you'd like. }

I bet you're wondering about this title of this post.... well, keep reading.

{ Is this butt Nebraska-sized or what? }

Browsing the search terms that led people to my blog often has me laughing and also at times scratching my head. If anything, it's always an entertaining time browsing the search terms. Sometimes I'll find, sandwiched between normal keywords, the strangest words that led people to my blog. Take for instance "my Nebraska-sized arse". That one made me laugh out loud.

search terms I'm rather confused by:

" My Nebraska-sized arse "
I take offense to that. There's no way I would consider my arse to be the size of Nebraska, but my husband does love Nebraska football. Does that count? I did call myself a bad arse in this post. Maybe that's where the confusion lies?

" Chick fil a chocolate chunk cookie recipe "
There is no way I've got that recipe, but I do have a recipe for what I think are the best chocolate chip cookies ever! Seriously you need to make them. I had a woman leave a comment about how she was looking for the Chick fil a recipe, but she somehow stumbled upon the one I shared. Her whole family ate them up in no time! It's not the Chick fil a recipe but who's keeping track?

" Purchase images of Disney World "
There are no Disney World images for sale on my blog, but maybe I should start selling them. Nobody better be ripping off my Disney World images. Okay, thanks!

search terms that make me happy:

" Vika Jigulina "
Oh hey, someone likes my music. Thanks for finding me... even if it was accidental.

" Pilot wife problems "
One of the reasons I started this blog was to share some of the struggles and adventures I was having as the wife of a pilot. I'm glad that maybe at least one person has found something that can help them here.

" Pool time "
Lots of people end up on my blog post about free entrance to a Las Vegas swimming pool. Seriously, do yourself a favor and visit the M Resort pool if you're ever in Las Vegas. It's gorgeous! We happened to visit on a slow week day, and it was free entrance to the pool. You can still use the pool, even if you aren't a hotel guest, but it will cost you a bit. (I think ladies 21+ get in free though)

" Hoarding hotel toiletries "
I am purely entertained by this one, because I clearly have a hotel toiletry hoarding problem. Maybe I'll do a more recent post sharing my ever expanding stash of tiny shampoo and conditioner bottles. It's a sickness you guys.

My humorous rules for driving in Florida post still brings people to this blog a year later. Obviously it's not the most serious post I've ever written, but it's a fun one nonetheless. I still find most of these rules to be fairly true after living in the sunshine state for almost a year and a half.

Have you found some strange search words
that led people to your blog?

Flower Power! Or Not.

{ flowers in my dad's yard in northern Michigan }

Flowering plants to me, in the most simple explanation I can think of, are like little people. Except plants actually come with some instructions and children don't. Plants come with those handy little plastic things, stuck neatly into the soil, that explain the plant's needs. Shade, plant separation distance, and water needs are all covered in the guidelines on that little piece of plastic. Even with the extra help though, I still manage to kill off our pretty little flowers time and time again.

We had a beautiful hanging basket full of flowers that lasted about 1.2 days on our patio. The death of our flowers left me miffed and confused. What did I we do wrong this time? Was it too much water? Or did the plant get too much light? I don't really blame it either. That Florida sun can zap the life right out of you in no time flat. Too much, and even too little, of a good thing can be a bad thing. Now I'm even more confused. These little people/plants are harder to take care of than I thought. Or are they? Maybe I'll pretend the death of our flowers was just a fluke, because I am able to keep our other plants and basil alive just fine. I'm not sure we want to spend the money on another hanging basket if it's just going to kick the bucket after we get 30 minutes of enjoyment out of it.

God help us when we get a puppy or, even scarier yet, a child. How will we ever keep it alive? At least babies grow up to be children, who eventually learn to speak, so we'll be able to ask what they need with time. Now that I think about it, flowers and puppies just might be scarier than children. They don't speak. Who am I kidding? Kids are scary, because they grow up to become adults. On second thought, maybe I will buy more flowers.

enjoy some more flowers from my dad's gardens.... I promise they won't talk back...

so pretty and green

beautiful flowers line the porch steps

spiders enjoy flowers too

lovely hydrangea

 bright as sunshine

this morning glory wraps around a glass with an avocado pit growing its own roots

Do you love being surrounded by flower gardens?
If you have any secrets on how to keep flowers alive, that would be much appreciated.

My Evolution in Cooking { A Short Story}

Let's be honest. Cooking used to downright scare me. I mean a lot of things scared me when I was young, but thinking of myself as a cook in the kitchen gave me the chills. I never really thought I'd be able to do it. That might sound silly to some of you who were raised in a kitchen or had the cooking gene from birth, but my love for cooking has evolved over time. Aged like a fine wine, I like to think my cooking only gets better and more refined with time.

I was one of those kids who was terrified to make a mistake, who only raised my hand when I knew the answer, which was often because I made darn sure I knew the answers, and not having the answers scared me. It still scares me to not have the answers, but I'm getting better about that. Enter cooking in the kitchen. I thought a recipe was something that had to be followed exactly or you would run the risk of blowing up the oven. Okay that may be a slight exaggeration, but coming from someone who felt at home in the high school chemistry lab, you can see where the idea of making a mistake and exploding something comes from. I was scared of the kitchen. Sort of like I was scared of the chemistry lab but in a good way, because I usually aced my chemistry exams. Enter my sort of unhealthy need to be the best at every single thing I do. If I couldn't be the best I didn't really want to do it. Hence why I didn't cook much growing up.

College was a time of fear and uncertainty. Again, I'm very good at being dramatic when necessary for effect. I began learning to cook in college, because I needed to eat. See how that works? Sometimes when we need to do something we do it. I had my mom and dad making delicious meals for me most of my life, and I let them. It was a purely selfish way to think about food. In college, I learned to cook some things or starve. Fear has a funny way of making you do things you didn't think you could do. So I started cooking for myself in college. I became more certain that I could saute a mean frozen pierogi from Trader Joe's in Ann Arbor, and I also made a mean stir fry from the frozen food aisle. Hey, we all have to start somewhere.

{ Sandwiches and Harry Potter for dinner? Don't mind if I do. }

After graduating college, I moved in with family in Colorado. That helped my cooking skills tremendously, because my aunt seemed to be one of those people who was born with the cooking skills of a world class chef. Funny how we talk ourselves out of doing things because we think others are born with certain skills. Fortunately, she reminded me that good cooking comes with age, experience, and lots of messed up meals along the way. It was okay to make mistakes in the kitchen. Sometimes failing is the only way to learn. What a novel idea that seemed. I thank my aunt for being such a confident cook but also reminding me that she messed up meals too.

I finally moved in to an apartment with another Michigan alum, and she was not much of a cook. Let's be honest, she quite often called a bowl of cereal dinner. Who hasn't done that though? She was blessed with the baking gene, and I didn't seem to have a single bit of baker in me. She was thrilled to get a KitchenAid stand mixer for Christmas, but I just couldn't share the same enthusiasm because baking scared me. I had flashbacks of high school chemistry lab, and I kept think about an exploding kitchen. However, cooking a nice meal didn't seem to scare me quite as badly as it scared my roommate. We all have different abilities in the kitchen depending on how badly we want to eat a certain food. I knew I didn't want to live off of ramen for the rest of my life, so I learned to boil, saute, and bake things.

Enter my future husband (now my only and current husband). I would cook dinner for the two of us, because honestly I was just a better cook at that time. He ruled the grill, and that terrified me. I ruled the refrigerator, sink, stove, and oven. We ate things like baked chicken, lasagna, stuffed shell pasta, and pancakes. There were definitely burned meals and dried out chicken, but I was learning and growing more confident in the kitchen. Win, win.

{ see... cooking can be fun! }

Marriage was not all about burned meals, because I had tried to get that out of my system before terrifying my man completely. I tried my best to burn meals when I was cooking only for myself. With a husband who's a pilot, it was easy cooking for myself when he was gone. It was the best, and least embarrassing, way for me to learn. My dad came to visit one Thanksgiving, and I made almost all of the food by myself. That's right. All alone. It was a nice confidence boost, but it still freaks me out that I actually did that. I haven't done it again since.

{ I made all of this with a little help from my husband and father }

I'm actually to the point in my cooking evolution where I amaze my husband, and that's kind of cool. He'll exclaim things like "these are just as good as the pancakes at Snooze!" I'll respond by telling him he's crazy and that no one can make pancakes that delicious. My husband also looks at me like I just parted the Red Sea when I cook something without a recipe. That's something I never would have done in my fearful days of a chemist's approach to cooking. Heck, now I'll even modify a recipe to our tastes. I've learned that a recipe is more like a guideline, but you need to cook often in order to find out what you'd like to change about a meal.

I'm still absolutely terrified to cook for guests. I stick to the few things I'm most confident in making, but I always sweat a little when I know someone besides me or my husband will be eating my food. My fear of being judged by others comes rushing in, and I'll wonder if my meals will turn out or if they'll think I'm a dummy in the kitchen, or worse, maybe I will blow something up while they're watching. That still scares the bejeezus out of me.

{ steamed mussels would have scared me years ago }

My husband and I are actually at a point now where we don't even enjoy going out to eat, because most of the food I make at home is better than what we can get at a restaurant. I'm not saying that to make myself sound like an incredible chef, but it goes to show you we just don't have great food offerings here in the Tampa Bay area. Now if we still lived in Denver that would be a different story, because I can still eat at Vesta Dipping Grill and have the socks blown off my feet. We are still searching for a Tampa Bay restaurant that knocks our socks off.

Every day I'm learning to grow more confident in the kitchen. Not to mention, I am not afraid to put pumpkin in my pancakes these days. See what a little time, a whole lot of burned meals, people who believe in you, and some successful dishes will do to a person. Some day maybe I'll even learn to be successful at baking from scratch. Who knows maybe I'll give grilling a try, or I'll just leave that to my husband. I'm not sure there's room for two grill masters in the family.

Reasons We Need a Smartphone

My husband and I just might be the only two people on planet earth who still are not the proud owners of a smartphone. When finally we do get them, something better (possibly the smarter phone) will most likely be released and we'll be left in the dust once again. Until then, I keep dreaming of all the uses for my non existent smartphone. Obviously I have navigated life perfectly fine without a smartphone thus far, but for convenience reasons my husband and I really do need them. Do you see where this is going?

Here are some reasons
why I we need a smartphone:
{ my husband's list would be different than mine...
he would have more weather related and pilot-y things I'm sure }

{ whoa, this photo is old school }

Musical Curiosities:

Take for instance a couple nights ago, my husband and I heard a song we liked on the television and simultaneously asked "who sings that?". We typically try and remember some lyrics to 'google' in an attempt to find the artist name or song.

Oh Shazam, how you would take the guesswork out of learning artists and song titles. We could use you in a grocery store, elevator (depending on our service provider), at a baseball game (that would have come in handy last week), or in the car whenever a new song plays. The opportunities to learn new artists and songs would be endless. Until we got sick of you and downloaded some fun new app. Then we might forget all about you.

Starbucks and Chik-Fil-A Curiosities:

Oh nonexistent smartphone, you would have been invaluable on our cross-country road trip last year. There were times when I feared I may never see a Starbucks ever again. Clearly I had plunged into a dangerous haze induced by lack of strong coffee.

iExit Interstate Exit Guide would have helped us find the closest Starbucks, and I may have become slightly less crazed had I known when to anticipate my next cup of tasty coffee. Not to mention, the endless number of times I've craved Chik-Fil-A as soon as we get in the car for a short road trip. iExit, you would help keep me more calm during road trips.... I need you.

{ clearly this is a mirror shot, hence the "nonaC" camera }

Photographic Tendencies:

Boy do I remember the heydays of the film camera. It was sort of like the days before the smartphone. I often took 5 rolls of film and got 5 great photos. What am amateur! Thank goodness I have a digital camera now. They're much easier on the wallet when it comes to not spending on film and developing.

*Segue* Instagram. I need you. I want to endlessly snap photos of pretty things all around me, make them prettier with your neat-o filters, and I want to share my pictures with people all around the world. Thank you.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I cannot believe my husband and I are still willingly living in the days before the smartphone. Some day I'm sure we'll each have a smartphone, but I never want to become one of those people who is glued to their phone 24/7. It will be difficult for that first week I'm sure. Like a child with a new toy, I'll probably be excited over ever nook and cranny of my new smart phone. The novelty always wears off though, right? Or will I be a smartphone addict? I hope not. Are you someone who happens to be addicted to using your smartphone? What are you favorite apps or smartphone features? Obviously I already have some favorites. Now I'm just waiting for that perfect iPhone to fall into my lap.

Hello apple. If you would like to send my husband and I free iPhones, we would not be opposed to that. I'm just saying. Or if you're someone who would like to help a young married couple be more "hip", you can email me with details. I kid.... sort of.

Do you remember life before the smartphone? Has life now changed for the better, or do you feel even more obligated to stayed plugged-in? What is your favorite escape (turn off the phone, vacation, etc.) from technology?

Made You Laugh

This video is too funny not to share.
Laughing at yourself is never a bad thing.

I got temporarily stuck in our office window
while taking a 'shortcut' to our balcony.

I hope you have something to laugh about this week! (:

Something Pink for my Birthday

One of my very favorite blogger's, Courtney @ from here to eternity, wrote a blog post about how she wanted a pink handgun after getting her concealed carry weapon permit. If I ever get a handgun, it's obviously going to be a pink one. Naturally I told my husband that I wanted a pink gun, and he suggested that I take a gun safety class and get more practice shooting before getting my own gun. The guy does talk some sense once in a while. {Just kidding honey!}

Instead of a pink hand gun, my husband gave me a pink can of pepper spray for my birthday!
It's pretty cute. As cute as a can of pepper spray can be. Maybe the pink container will distract would be muggers long enough that I could actually shoot them in the eye with it. Obviously a hand gun would be much more effective, but until then I have this girly can of pepper spray. (aka my pink 'gun')

I also got a really sweet pair of binoculars!
They work like a charm. I can see really far now, and they sort of make me feel like a superhero.
You know, one that has superhuman eyesight. Good thing they don't give me x-ray power.
I'm not ready for that kind of responsibility yet.

I also got some delicious smelling perfume and a home decorating book.

{  perfume : Miss Dior (similar)  |  book : Domino: the book of decorating  }

BOOM!

Here is a picture of me shooting a .45 handgun for the first time way back in 2006.
I need to work on my form a bit, but I was actually a surprisingly good shot.
Boo-yah! Now can I have that pink handgun? (:

Another Birthday & Finding the Humor

Turning another year older just isn't the same as it was when you were 5 years old. For starters, I didn't have a rocking horse cake this year. I'm now into ice cream cakes, and my husband knows how much I love ice cream. If there's one thing I know one thing for sure after all these years, I will never be too old for ice cream cakes. It can also never be too cold for ice cream.

Obviously gifts are nice, but all I wanted to do for my birthday (besides eat ice cream cake) was spend the day at Fort Desoto Beach. We enjoyed balmy 80 degree weather on my birthday, so it was perfect for a day at the beach. The day consisted of reading under our umbrella and scouring the beach for seashells and sand dollars. We surprisingly found a handful of whole sand dollars. That was a lovely birthday gift from mother nature.

{ you can read this previous blog post about why Fort Desoto is my favorite beach }

It's funny thinking back to when I was 5 years old. All I wanted to do was play dress up with my friends for my birthday, and now now I'm content reading books on a beach with my husband. I also used to think it was fun having restaurant waitstaff at La Senorita sing to me while I blew out the candle on my free dessert, but now it sort of makes me cringe to think of having restaurant waitstaff sing to me in public. One thing is for sure, adding another year to your age was much more exciting back then.

Since I just seem to keep getting older, I'm trying to see the humor in finding white hairs on my head before the age of thirty. Yes I just said that. This girl is already getting white hair. My husband so very optimistically calls them: very blond hairs. I'll go with that. (Who knows. Maybe they're just caused by stress? Maybe?) Nothing like premature aging. Apparently someone thought it would be funny to give me white hair for my birthday. Thanks for that God. ;)

Is It Too Soon?

Halloween has come and gone, the leaves have fallen from our trees, and the shelves are already stocked with gifts and holiday merchandise in preparation for "Black Friday". Before we know it, we'll be ringing in the year 2012. Where has the time gone?

Wait a minute, let's slow things down for a second here!
Why the rush?

Is it just me, or does this time of year always seem to rush by in a hurry?

I know one thing.
Seeing how eggnog is only available for a short stretch of time each year,
we're enjoying a glass (or two... don't tell anyone) tonight.

We always enjoyed some eggnog during Thanksgiving when I was growing up,
and over the years that's something that will not change.

Good thing my husband loves eggnog too,
because I'd sure hate to drink a whole quart all by myself. *wink, wink*

There's also no shortage of holiday candles around our place either.

{ candles both from anthropologie Aloha Orchid tin and Balsam & Cedar }

In our household we do have a pretty steadfast rule
of not putting up our Christmas tree or listening
to any Christmas music until after Thanksgiving though.

You have to draw the line somewhere.

I'm a Floridian Now

Never in a million years would I ever have thought I would call a 60 degree evening in Florida 'chilly'. (I may have even used the word 'freezing' last night, but we all know that freezing is actually more like 32 degrees.) After living in Florida for about four and half months, I am already turning into a sissy. Who would have thought this northern Michigan-raised girl would be cold in Florida during the month of October?! Not me. *shaking my head sincerely*

Somehow my husband and I survived a summer in Florida. We moved here in June, which is at the front of the hottest time of year. Now we are looking forward to the rest of the year, and it can only get better from here, right? We obviously knew what we were doing moving here in June. (Don't let me fool you. This would be what you call sarcasm. We had heard horror stories about the Florida humidity, and they are all true.) Goodbye hurricane season. Goodbye sweaty and gross. Hello beautiful time of year. Hello to wearing jeans and sweatshirts while drinking pumpkin spice lattes outside! Yeah! Welcome to fall in Florida. If winter gets much colder than this I might need to bust out a fleece jacket. We are Floridians now!
